Spectra Precision SPGA Rover GNSS Antenna
The Spectra Precision SPGA Rover is an external GNSS antenna designed for precise surveying. It receives satellite signals and passes them to a separate GNSS receiver, such as the Spectra Precision SP90m. Despite its name, the antenna can be used in either a moving rover setup or a stationary base station.
In a rover setup, a surveyor mounts the antenna on a pole and moves between points to collect position measurements. The SPGA Rover is optimized for real-time kinematic (RTK) surveying, where a receiver uses correction data to determine precise positions. The antenna itself receives signals; the connected receiver performs the positioning calculations.
The antenna supports signals from GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, and satellite-based augmentation systems. Tracking multiple satellite systems gives the connected receiver more signals to work with. The SPGA Rover is also designed to track satellites low on the horizon and reduce multipath, which occurs when signals reflect off nearby surfaces before reaching the antenna.
Its stable antenna design provides sub-millimeter phase-center repeatability—a measure of how consistently the antenna receives signals relative to its reference point. A built-in low-noise amplifier boosts received signals, while filtering helps reduce interference from certain nearby radio sources. These features support reliable satellite tracking in demanding field conditions.
The SPGA Rover has a 5/8-inch threaded mount for survey equipment and connects to its receiver through a coaxial cable, which also supplies its power. Its sealed, compact housing is built for outdoor work. It is a component of a GNSS surveying system, so it requires a compatible receiver and the other equipment needed for the chosen base or rover setup.
