The Sokkia SX-102T 2″ Auto-Tracking Total Station is a motorized surveying instrument used to measure horizontal and vertical angles, distances, and point positions. Its 2-arc-second angular accuracy supports precise surveying and construction work. By combining angle and distance measurements, it helps professionals determine coordinates and elevations for mapping, layout, and site documentation.

Its automatic tracking system follows a compatible prism as the surveyor moves between measurement points, reducing the need to aim the telescope manually for every observation. With a compatible field controller and the appropriate robotic accessories, the SX-102T supports one-person surveying, allowing the operator to control measurements from the prism pole. Tracking requires a clear line of sight between the instrument and the prism.

The SX-102T uses Sokkia’s RED-tech electronic distance measurement technology to measure to prisms, reflective sheets, or suitable surfaces without a reflector. Reflectorless operation is useful for collecting measurements on building faces and other locations where placing a prism is difficult. The SX Series offers reflectorless distances up to 1,000 meters under specified conditions, with actual performance depending on the surface and environment.

Typical uses include topographic surveys, construction stakeout, road layout, and as-built surveys. Surveyors can record existing terrain and structures or locate planned design points on the ground. These capabilities help crews position project elements and check completed work against design coordinates. Compatible field software also supports tasks such as coordinate geometry and road stakeout.

To support reliable angle measurements, the SX-102T incorporates absolute encoders, dual-axis tilt compensation, and Sokkia’s Independent Angle Calibration System. Bluetooth Class 1 communication connects the instrument with compatible controllers, helping operators manage measurements in the field.
