The Sokkia FX-103 is a 3-second reflectorless total station used for surveying, construction layout, and measuring existing site features. It combines electronic angle measurement with a distance meter, allowing crews to determine point positions, record elevations, and set out locations from survey plans.
Its reflectorless mode measures directly to suitable surfaces without placing a prism at every point. This is useful for building corners, walls, road features, and other locations that are difficult to reach. Sokkia specifies a reflectorless measuring range of 0.3 to 500 meters under stated conditions. The instrument can also measure to a prism for longer distances.
A 30× telescope helps the operator sight targets, while the dual-axis compensator accounts for small amounts of instrument tilt. The FX-103’s 3-second angle accuracy makes it a practical choice for collecting topographic points, checking site positions, and carrying out construction staking.
The FX-103 has a color touchscreen and onboard field software for recording measurements and working with points in the field. Data can be transferred for use in survey drawings and project records, and Bluetooth communication is available on equipped units. Its rugged body and IP65 dust and water protection help it withstand everyday job-site use.
