IDS C-thrue XS Concrete Scanner
The IDS GeoRadar C-thrue XS Concrete Scanner is a compact, handheld ground-penetrating radar (GPR) device used to inspect inside concrete without damaging it. Construction crews and engineers use it to locate reinforcing bars, post-tension cables, conduits, and potential voids before cutting or drilling.
The scanner sends radar signals into concrete and analyzes reflections from embedded objects and material changes. Its dual-polarization technology collects signals in horizontal and vertical orientations during one pass, helping reveal targets at different depths and making scan results easier to interpret.
Its small size is particularly useful around pillars, corners, and other obstructions where larger scanners are difficult to maneuver. Weighing less than half a kilogram, the C-thrue XS is designed to make inspections in confined areas easier and reduce fatigue during extended scanning.
The C-thrue XS can operate with a tablet or integrate with the larger C-thrue scanner’s display. Its software processes results in real time, supports automatic recognition of rebars and voids, and allows operators to mark targets for further investigation.
Collected data can also be analyzed in NDT Reveal, which supports 2D and 3D visualization, CAD exports, and survey reports. These tools help teams document embedded features, compare findings with structural plans, and make informed decisions about concrete renovation, inspection, and drilling locations.
